Importance of responsibility!
Third grade is such an exciting year for teachers, parents, and students. This year your child will go from having S, P, and U's on their report card, to letter grades. We will explain what each letter grade means to your child. Please do not be alarmed when you get your child's first progress report - if you have questions or concerns about it, when the time comes, please email me! This year is a big year for responsibility. It is my goal to teach your child how to be self-sufficient and become responsible for their own learning. Students are expected to finish all work that is assigned in a timely manner as well as to have their agenda signed each night. Having the agenda signed is so important because it is one of the primary communications between parent and teacher. Students are also expected to ask the teacher when they have questions, as hard as I may try, I'm not a mind reader :), so it will be your child's responsibility to alert me when they are confused. The absence policy went home with each parent/student on the first day of school and they know it is their own responsibility to pick up and finish make-up work from an absence. I will always be available to guide your child and help them when they need it, but please know that this is the year when we really push students toward taking responsibility for their actions and learning!
